David enjoyed a long executive career as an actuary, culminating in being the founder and CEO of life insurer, Bright Grey, backed by Royal London. Since retiring, David has held a number of non-executive roles, including being Chair of insurer, Engage Mutual, and a Governor and Audit and Risk Committee Chair of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He was also the founding Chair of Trustees of the charity, Smalls for All.
In 2018, David was appointed as a director of Forester Life Limited where he chairs the Audit and Compliance Committee.
He is a Trustee of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Senior Independent Director and Audit Committee chair of IMPRESS, the UK’s first independent press regulator.
