John Young has been a director of Forester Life Limited since 2013 and Chair of the Board since 2017. He retired as a Partner in Hogan Lovells, the international law firm, in 2012 after 33 years with the firm and its predecessors. During his final eight years with the firm he was the Senior Partner of Lovells and (following the Hogan Lovells merger) Co-Chair of the combined firm.
In his professional life he advised the insurance industry for over 25 years on corporate transactions and regulatory matters. He is now principally active as a non-executive director in the insurance industry and as a charity trustee. Apart from his role at Forester Life he is chair of Guy Carpenter & Company Limited, Solicitors Indemnity Fund Limited and the Worshipful Company of Insurers Charitable Trust (the charity affiliated to the City of London livery company for the insurance industry).
He is also a trustee of the international development charity Farm Africa, a governor of The Manchester Grammar School and an external member of the audit and development committees of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
